Ryotaro

Chris "Abroad" in Japan and his trusty untrustworthy sidekick Ryotaro explore Japan. From secluded mountain temples and remote islands, to mouthwatering dishes, remarkable people and weird, bizarre and breathtaking locales, the series is quite possibly the best way to experience Japan outside of setting foot in Japan itself. Just watch out for Ryotaro's attempts to assassinate Chris.

Ryotaro's Story

@ryotarojapan

Japan’s answer to James Bond has lived in more countries than you have fingers, with stints in America, the UK and Australia to name a few. Fluent in English with an accent that sounds like Christopher Walken fused with East London, Ryotaro is the Abroad in Japan channel’s cheeky Japan Expert. Having met at a party in Sendai and struck up a friendship through their love of Fish and Chips, Ryotaro and Chris’ friendship gets progressively worse with each episode, with Ryotaro’s sordid attempts to kill Chris at every turn.
 His adventures with Chris around Japan’s hidden regions have been watched by millions around the world and as a resident of Tohoku in north Japan, he’ll stop at nothing to help build it on the map by showcasing the weird, wacky and wonderful things the region has to offer - all the while, continuing to assassinate Chris by any means necessary.
